Usually, whenever we think of pizza, we think of Italy. However, the origin of this yummy food dates back to the ancient times of 997 AD. It is a Lation-originated word “pinsa” meaning to flatten out. Egyptians and Greeks used to cook pizzas in the shape of a flatbread with olive oil and some spices on top. The modern day pizza gradually evolved in the 18th century in Naples, Italy where tomatoes were added to it.

In 2001, a six-inch pizza delivery was done via a resupply rocket for which the Russian Space Agency paid more than a million bucks. The astronaut had the honour of eating pizza while in orbit.

The Italian Master Chef Renato Viola once cooked the most expensive pizza in the world. The Louis XIII in Salerno, Italy holds this tag of costing a pizza about $12,000. This expensive pizza was not an ordinary pizza, but a dough aged perfectly and topped with ingredients like a lobster from Norway, three types of caviar, cliento, buffalo mozzarella cheese, pink Australian sea salt from Murray River, and squilla mantis.
